"أَمْسَكُوا سَمَكًا كَثِيرًا جِدًّا، فَصَارَتْ شَبَكَتُهُمْ تَتَخَرَّقُ. فَأَشَارُوا إِلَى شُرَكَائِهِمُِ الَّذِينَ فِي السَّفِينَةِ الأُخْرَى أَنْ يَأْتُوا وَيُسَاعِدُوهُمْ. فَأَتَوْا وَمَلأُوا السَّفِينَتَيْنِ حَتَّى أَخَذَتَا فِي الْغَرَقِ.." (لو5: 6-7).

في الحقيقة أنّ الرهبنة منذ بدايتها هي حركة للعُمق الروحي، وتكريس القلب والحياة للعريس الحبيب في نذورٍ ثلاثة: العِفّة والطاعة والفقر الاختياري.. هي انحلال من الكلّ للارتباط بالواحد.. هي انفراد مع الله بعيدًا عن الناس، ولكن من أجل الناس، ومن أجل خدمة الصلاة لخلاص العالم كلّه، والتي هي أعظم خدمة..!

“And He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light” (Mat. 17:2).

بمناسبة احتفالنا بعيد أمّنا العذراء الهادئة القليلة الكلام، التي كانت تحفظ الأمور متفكّرة بها في قلبها.. عنوان مقال اليوم: الكلام

جاءت هذه الآية في ختام رسالة القديس بولس الرسول إلى أهل كولوسي (كو4: 18)، وهي ضمن أربع رسائل أرسلها من سِجنه الأول في روما (أفسس وكولوسي وفيلبّي وفليمون). فلماذا يريدنا الرسول بولس أن نذكُر قيوده المربوط بها..؟! لعلّ في ذهنه الكثير من الأفكار التي جعلته يقول هذه العبارة.. نحاول بمعونة الروح القدس أن نستكشفها:

العبادة في الكنيسة الأُرثوذكسية تشكِّل جزءًا أساسيًا لا ينفصل عن العقيدة، بل إنّ العبادة هي قلب العقيدة الأُرثوذكسية؛ فالعقيدة الأُرثوذكسية تُفهَم من خلال العبادة؛ بمعنى أن اللاهوت الأرثوذكسي مكثّف في الصلوات الليتورجية الطقسية وبالأخصّ في القُداس والتسبحة.. لذلك فإنّ مَن يعيش بعمق في صلوات الكنيسة يفهم عقيدته ويختبر تأثيرها الرائع في كيانه.

One of the most common complaints I hear from the congregation is that “church is boring!” While I often hear this complaint from parents on behalf of their children, it would be naïve to assume that children are the only ones who express their dissatisfaction about going to church.  Adults, often secretly, also share in the same sentiment.  In the next series of articles, I hope to address some of the causes of boredom and provide remedies to help you stay engaged in Liturgy.

In Luke 10:1-17, the Lord appoints seventy men to go out as missionaries–as apostles. Though not so prominent as the Twelve, the Seventy carried out their missions with fervor and enthusiasm. The Tradition of the Church confirms that the Seventy remained true to the Lord and their calling, fulfilling a vital role in the spread of the gospel. These were not random choices or accidental volunteers but true disciples, true apostles, whose labors carried the message of their Lord throughout the Roman Empire and beyond.

During a period of gloomy captivity and despair for the Israelite nation, the pre-incarnate Logos, Jesus Christ, appears to Prophet Ezekiel roughly 600 years before the incarnation.  At the time of the revelation, Ezekiel was sitting in his house in Babylon conversing with other Israelite refugees. Ezekiel, in awe of the glory of God, describes the Logos as “a likeness, like the appearance of fire – from the appearance of His waist and downward, fire; and from His waist upward, like the appearance of brightness, like the color amber” (Ezek. 8:2). The Logos then takes Ezekiel in the spirit from the gathering and shows him four abominations occurring in the most sacred, holiest, and consecrated place on earth – the glorious Temple.
