God revealed himself in the Holy Scriptures as being one in three. Let’s see some examples:

1- “Then God said, ‘Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness…’” (Genesis 1:26).

2- “Then the Lord God said, ‘Behold, the man has become like one of Us, to know good and evil…’” (Genesis 3:22)

3- “And the Lord spoke to Moses, saying: ‘Speak to Aaron and his sons, saying, “This is the way you shall bless the children of Israel.” Say to them: ‘The Lord [The Father] bless you and keep you; The Lord [The incarnate Son, the redeemer] make His face shine upon you, and be gracious to you;  The Lord [The Holy spirit] lift up His countenance upon you, And give you peace.’ “So they shall put My name on the children of Israel, and I will bless them.”” (Numbers 6:22-27).

In the previous three points, notice the plural form in the blessing of the Trinity while using singular form for the name.

4- “Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart…” (Deuteronomy 6:4). Notice the oneness.

5-  “I am He. Before Me there was no God formed, nor shall there be after Me. I, even I, am the Lord, and besides Me there is no savior.” (Isaiah 43:10-11). Notice the oneness.

6- “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of

the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”  (Matthew 28:19). Here we clearly see the Trinity.

7- “The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you; therefore, also, that Holy One who is to be born will be called the Son of God.” (Luke 1:35). Notice the work of the Trinity in incarnation.

8- “The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.” (2 Corinthian 13:14). The blessing of the Trinity in the New Testament which is used by the church in concluding liturgical prayers.

9- “ You believe that there is one God. You do well.” (James 2:19).

10 “For there are three that bear witness in heaven: The Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.” (1 John 5:7). Notice the Trinity and the oneness.

11- When Jesus spoke about the love of God for the sinners in Luke 15, he mentioned three parables: First, the Lost Sheep which expresses the love of the Son who came from heaven to search for and retrieve the Lost Sheep. Second, the Lost Coin in which the light of Holy Spirit leads the Church in search of the Lost Coin until she finds it and rejoices. Third, the Lost Son which demonstrates the love of the Father and His open arms for the repenting sinners.

This chapter paints a magnificent picture for the work of the Trinity and His great love towards us.

12- When our teacher St Paul the Apostle

speaks to us about his knowledge in the mystery of Christ in Ephesians 3, he reveals it in one sentence, “The Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel.” (Ephesians 3:6). In this verse we see God inviting man to become an heir of the inheritance when man becomes a son to God, and the son inherits the kingdom of his father. We also see God inviting man to become a member in the body of Christ, the Son, and to partake in the promise of the Spirit so he becomes a sanctuary for the Holy Spirit.

This clarifies our relationship to the Trinity and the benefits of our fellowship with Him: Sons of the Father, members of the body of the Son, and a sanctuary for the Holy spirit to dwell in.

The Trinity in my Life:

• The Father: Created me through the Son, chose me, cares for me and embraces me, and invites me to the fellowship of His eternal inheritance.
• The Son: incarnated and united with my human nature, redeemed me on the cross. He took my nature except for sin and granted me the membership of His body.
• The Holy Spirit: Takes my heart as a dwelling place, sanctifies me, teaches me everything, convicts me, guides me to the truth, leads me, takes of what is Christ’s and declares it to me (John 16:14), draws me towards the Father’s bosom, and intercedes on my behalf.
